The Role

This is a full-time, permanent position based in our Munich office. The successful candidate will be required to attend the office a minimum of two days per week.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

- Drafting specifications and responding to office actions for complex inventions to a high standard
- Advising clients on securing appropriate IP protection
- Assisting with Oral Proceedings at the European Patent Office
- Corresponding with clients, Patent Offices and overseas Attorneys
- Analysing prior art and working directly with clients to develop creative and persuasive arguments against patent office objections
- Thoroughly analysing and amending existing patent specifications where necessary to address patent office objections to patent applications
- Researching and advising on the status, scope and validity of third-party intellectual property rights
- Developing relationships with our current clients and building a network of contacts, with a view to converting contacts to clients and bringing in new business

About You

To join us as a Patent Attorney, you’ll need:

- Dual qualified German and European Patent Attorney
- A strong and demonstrable knowledge base in Engineering and Software and the ability to communicate effectively about technical concepts with the research and development teams of our clients.
- Skilled in analysing and identifying the novel features and commercial potential of an invention with demonstrable experience in drafting patent specifications and responses to office actions for prosecution.
- Experience managing cases and client relationships, with a track record of building rapport with clients and developing new business.
- Impeccable written German and English, attention to detail and first-rate communication skills with the ability to express ideas clearly and accurately.
- A track record of interacting effectively with staff and clients at all levels and a team player with a proactive approach.
- The ability to prioritise workload, manage high volumes of work and meet deadlines.

Ihre Rolle
In dieser Position übernehmen Sie Verantwortung für anspruchsvolle Mandate im Bereich Ingenieurwesen und softwarebasierte Innovationen. Sie arbeiten eng mit forschungsintensiven Unternehmen zusammen und begleiten Technologien von der Idee bis zur Durchsetzung.

Ihre Aufgaben im Überblick:
- Ausarbeitung und Betreuung komplexer Patentanmeldungen auf hohem qualitativen Niveau
- Strategische Beratung von Mandanten zum Aufbau und zur Entwicklung von IP-Portfolios
- Führung von Erteilungsverfahren vor dem EPA, inkl. Ausarbeitung von Erwiderungen (Office Actions)
- Unterstützung und perspektivisch eigenständige Vertretung in mündlichen Verhandlungen
- Analyse von Stand der Technik und Entwicklung überzeugender Argumentationslinien
- Freedom-to-Operate-, Validitäts- und Verletzungsanalysen
- Enge Zusammenarbeit mit internationalen Kollegen und Mandanten
- Aktive Pflege bestehender Mandatsbeziehungen sowie gezielter Ausbau von Neugeschäft

Ihr Profil
Sie sind ein erfahrener Patentanwalt mit technischem Tiefgang und unternehmerischem Denken.

Idealerweise bringen Sie mit:
- Doppelqualifikation: deutscher Patentanwalt und European Patent Attorney
- Fundierte Expertise in Ingenieurwissenschaften und/oder softwarebezogenen Technologien
- Nachweisbare Erfahrung in der eigenständigen Ausarbeitung und Durchsetzung von Patentanmeldungen
- Ausgeprägtes Verständnis für wirtschaftliche Aspekte von Innovationen und IP-Strategien
- Erfahrung im direkten Mandantenkontakt sowie im Ausbau von Geschäftsbeziehungen
- Sehr gute Deutsch- und Englischkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift

The Role

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

• Managing own and team inboxes, processing emails and post (mainly electronic but some hard copy), updating our case management system and acknowledging receipt, where appropriate.
• Accurate and daily maintenance of case management system, including following workflows and generating standard correspondence from templates, and liaising with Records and Finance departments, as well as sister company Withers & Rogers Renewals.
• Full secretarial support including all typing of documents including letters, emails, and patent specifications.
• Preparation of official forms for UK, European and other patent applications, and design applications, including use of online filing software, the payment of official fees and reporting accurately.
• Organising and prioritising own workload and keeping a level-headed approach in a busy working environment.
• Accurately following Withers & Rogers processes and procedures, and client specific processes and procedures where applicable.
• Producing/maintaining documentation to capture processes developed for key clients.
• Accurate preparation and processing of invoices, using e-billing systems where necessary.

Le/La candidat(e) retenu(e) travaillera en étroite collaboration avec nos équipes en France, au Royaume-Uni et en Allemagne afin de fournir un service de haute qualité à nos clients, en France comme à l'international.

Le poste sera basé dans l'un de nos bureaux de Paris, Londres, Munich, Bristol, Sheffield ou Birmingham. Withers & Rogers applique une politique de travail hybride et flexible, offrant une certaine souplesse quant à la présence au bureau, tout en répondant aux besoins du cabinet et de ses clients. Ce poste étant au sein de notre équipe française, des déplacements ponctuels à Paris seront nécessaires en fonction des besoins de l’équipe et de nos clients.

Vos responsabilités incluront :

- Assistance administrative complète, incluant la saisie de tous les documents (lettres, courriels et spécifications de demandes de brevets).
- Gestion de votre boîte mail et de celle de l'équipe, traitement du courrier (papier et électronique).
- Mise à jour quotidienne et rigoureuse du système informatisé de gestion des dossiers, incluant le respect des procédures, la rédaction de correspondance à partir de modèles et la liaison avec nos services d’Enregistrements (Records) et de la Comptabilité, ainsi qu'avec notre filiale Withers & Rogers Renewals.

Pour nous rejoindre en tant qu’assistant(e) PI, vous devrez posséder les compétences suivantes :

- Une expérience en tant qu'assistant(e) PI.
- Une passion pour le travail au sein d'un cabinet international dynamique spécialisé dans les services professionnels et pour la prestation d'un service d'excellence à nos clients.
- Maîtrise professionnelle du français et de l'anglais (niveau C2 en français et niveau B2 minimum en anglais).

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Paralegal to lead a team and support a key and growing client of Withers & Rogers.
